Realty Design Group is a Chicago-area residential remodeling firm built around the idea that good construction starts with good planning.
For more than a decade, RDG has helped homeowners transform houses that no longer fit the way they live. Our experience in residential construction, space planning and budgeting allows us to look at a project as a whole—from the initial ideas and big-picture decisions through the details that bring everything together.
We believe the best projects come from balancing great design with the realities of the home, the budget and the construction process. That practical, design-minded approach guides our work on projects ranging from kitchens and bathrooms to whole-home renovations and additions.

Bill Sattler
PRESIDENT
At Realty Design Group, our team stays closely involved from the first conversations through the completion of construction. We combine years of remodeling experience with a practical, hands-on approach to every project.
Our project managers and carpenters are an important part of that process, bringing experience, craftsmanship and problem-solving to the jobsite every day. Together, we coordinate the many details of construction, navigate the inevitable challenges of remodeling, and make sure each project is executed with care.
Bill’s interest in buildings and construction started long before Realty Design Group. Growing up with a father in the trades and a mother working in Chicago city government, conversations about buildings, neighborhoods and how the city works were a regular part of his childhood. That early interest eventually led to a background in urban planning, residential design, construction and real estate.
Before founding RDG in 2012, Bill worked in multifamily residential construction and spent eight years with one of Chicago’s largest residential design-build firms. That experience shaped the approach he would eventually bring to RDG: looking at a remodeling project not simply as construction, but as a combination of space planning, design, budget and the realities of the existing home.
Today, Bill works closely with clients, architects and designers from the earliest stages of a project through construction. Whether walking through a home before a client purchases it, sketching a solution to a field condition or helping make a big-picture design decision, his role is often to connect what a client wants with what can actually be built.
Joel Heilman
VICE PRESIDENT
Joel’s path to residential construction wasn’t as direct as Bill’s. With a background in business and consulting, he spent the early part of his career in the corporate world before joining Bill during the earliest days of Realty Design Group.
What started as helping a longtime friend build a new company quickly became a career. Joel worked alongside Bill in the field during RDG’s first years, developing the hands-on construction knowledge that now informs the way he manages projects. As the company and field team grew, his role evolved toward project management, operations and client communication.
Today, Joel oversees many of RDG’s suburban projects and is involved throughout construction, coordinating trades, solving field issues and keeping clients informed as their projects move forward. His combination of business experience and practical construction knowledge brings an organized, levelheaded approach to even complicated remodeling projects.

Greg has been with Realty Design Group for more than 10 years and is one of those rare carpenters who can look at a sketch, build it in his mind, and then figure out exactly how to make it work in the field. His ability to solve complicated framing, stairs and challenging existing conditions continues to impress us after all these years. He brings an incredible work ethic to every project and has never been one to back away from a challenge.
Andy has been with Realty Design Group for more than a decade and, over that time, has become an indispensable part of our team. A skilled carpenter with great instincts, his talents really shine in the finishing stages of a project—from cabinetry and millwork to the final adjustments and details that bring everything together.
Andy is patient, thoughtful and meticulous, with an easygoing demeanor that makes him as good with clients as he is with the details of the work. He has a remarkable ability to see what still needs attention when a project is nearing completion and brings an incredible work ethic to every job.
He isn’t finished until the project is right.
Carlos joined Realty Design Group more than two years ago and quickly proved himself to be a dedicated and capable member of our team. He is a quick learner who takes pride in his work and has steadily taken on more responsibility as his skills and experience have grown.
Working closely with Andy, Carlos has developed experience in cabinetry, millwork, finish carpentry and the many details that go into completing a project. He is dependable, hardworking and always willing to take on whatever the job requires. Today, he is equally comfortable working alongside the team or taking responsibility for projects and tasks on his own.
